Check the Effectiveness of Your Copy

How effective is your copy? Here is a checklist as a quality-control tool for you to make sure your copy effectively communicate all that you want.
- Eye catchy headline – The average prospect sees numerous headlines every day. Will yours stand out?
- Copy focused primarily on the prospect –address the prospects problems and remember to bring the benefits to life.
- Is the copy persuasive or descriptive – Use the style suitable for the purpose and check if the tone matches the requirement and keep it consistent
- Clear connection between each feature and benefit should be made
- Highlight the advantages of the product – mention what more can you provide than your competitors
- Summarize the benefits and features at the end
- Support the claims with evidence – Use testimonials, statistics, success stories, reviews, etc
- A call to action is a must – Tell the prospect what to do next
- Make the offer compelling enough to stimulate positive action from the customer’s side
- Use the copy to differentiate the product from the competition. The product should stand out in a crowd of look-alikes
- Check for any mistakes or typos – Check for correct addresses, phone numbers, product names, spellings, and Website URLs and also check if the facts are correct
- Remove clichés
- Use active voice – Try to keep the content in active voice and prefer short sentences
- Use minimum words – make use of bullet points, subheads etc for easy reading
- Define the abbreviation/acronyms at least one time in the copy
- Create a sense of urgency – explain why the prospect should act now
